Just completed an intense and richly rewarding two-day storytelling workshop led by Whee Teck Ong—and it was truly mind-blowing. He shared powerful ways to transform presentations so they truly connect with the audience, introducing us to a range of techniques and practical applications. For a group of IT professionals—Leads and Heads of Department—to set aside two full days is no small ask, but I think we’d all agree it was time well spent. Whee Teck made storytelling not just accessible, but essential for leadership and influence in our work. And yes… we’re definitely curious about the other modules he offers too!

Thank you very much for the class on Storytelling—it was truly a mind-opening experience. As you rightly pointed out, tech professionals often zero in on data and tasks, making it difficult to guide meetings toward desired outcomes. The techniques you shared—like Arrowhead, Inductive Reasoning, and 'Show, don’t tell'—have broadened my thinking and equipped me with new approaches for future meetings. Most importantly, this training marks the beginning of the next phase: it’s now time to train the ‘Muscle’ after developing the ‘Material,’ ‘Membership,’ ‘Mind,’ and ‘Motivation.’ This is just a simple, heartfelt thank-you—not an AI-generated note.

Thank you so much for the storytelling workshop — I truly enjoyed it and learned a lot. It felt personal, practical, and most importantly, real. The '5M' framework was a standout for me: Material, Motivation, Mind, Membership, and Muscle — each one simple yet powerful, especially the reminder to ‘go to the gym’ for your craft. Your point about energy management over time management was a game-changer; I’m already auditing my calendar to include more energy-giving activities. I also appreciated your emphasis on expressing opinions with emotion — it’s made me rethink how I present ideas. Plus, I discovered some amazing tools I’d never heard of before like Bigvu, LightCut, CapCut, and Lightlabs Voice, and the https://brutalist.report recommendation was such a gem! Your unique blend of tech savvy and creativity made this session truly special — thank you for sparking something new in me.

Just concluded an incredibly insightful two-day workshop on Storytelling for Tech Professionals with Whee Teck Ong—my former CEO and a master storyteller I’ve long admired. It was a privilege to learn from him once again. His engaging and down-to-earth approach reminded us that storytelling isn’t just about entertainment—it’s a powerful leadership tool. Whether simplifying complex technical ideas or building genuine human connections, storytelling is more essential than ever in today’s digital world. The workshop offered a practical and memorable framework: preparation and mental models, knowing your audience, crafting stories with clarity, and delivering with presence. My biggest takeaway: storytelling is not data dumping—it’s about creating relevance, emotion, and purpose. A must-have skill for any leader seeking to influence and inspire.

Ong Whee Teck is a master storyteller with a repertoire of bite-sized stories that kept us engaged and drove his points home. His Storytelling for Leaders workshop was both comprehensive and transformative, equipping us with essential communication skills for professional settings. The five-step framework—Preparation, Mental Models, Audience, Writing, and Delivery—provided a strong foundation for impactful storytelling. A major takeaway was the power of storytelling to enhance clarity and emotional impact, moving beyond data to truly connect with an audience. I especially appreciated the emphasis on tailoring messages, showing rather than telling, and delivering with passion while building credibility. The workshop was highly insightful, practical, and filled with actionable strategies to elevate influence through compelling narratives.

Thank you, Whee Teck, for two inspiring days filled with practical techniques, success stories, and valuable insights. It was a knowledge-rich experience, and I’m grateful to CBTO for the opportunity to attend. My biggest takeaway is that storytelling, when done well, is a powerful driver of success—and credibility plays a central role. Stories that resonate, feel true, and are delivered with sincerity help us earn trust. I was especially inspired by the 'show, not tell' principle; the video example was powerful and aspirational, and it reminded me that people notice what we do, not just what we say. It’s a daily practice to build credibility through behavior. This workshop was incredibly valuable, and I look forward to continuing to apply what I’ve learned to tell better stories that land a call to action effectively.
